About Me
Hi, my name is Sumana Mitta. As a counselor, my approach is rooted in compassion, empathy, and a deep commitment to helping others through their journey of healing and growth. My approach centers on understanding each person’s unique story, validating their feelings, and providing the support needed to navigate life’s challenges. I provide a compassionate and supportive space where you can feel safe to explore your experiences. I work collaboratively to understand your unique story, help you build insight and resilience, and develop practical tools to navigate challenges. Whether you’re facing anxiety, relationship concerns, cultural identity conflicts, or life transitions, I’m here to support your growth and healing.
My Background
I earned my Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Santa Clara University. I have done my internship at Cupertino Union School District and have had experience working with students and their families. I enjoy working with children, adults, and families to strengthen relationships, build self-awareness, and foster resilience. As an immigrant, I’m especially passionate about supporting clients navigating cultural identity, immigration stress, anxiety, spirituality, and conflict resolution. I worked as an associate at Nugent Family Services where I conducted assessments and developed treatment plans under supervision, co-facilitated therapy groups, participated in weekly supervision, and supported community outreach and psychoeducation.
