International Trauma Outreach
One core value of RMFI is to promote the advancement of knowledge about the immediate and long-term human consequences of traumatic events. We work toward educating communities on effective methods of prevention, relief and restoration to those traumatized as well as training local practitioners to respond optimally to those treating traumatized and victimized populations.
Our first real-world mission began after we were invited to Nicaragua in February 2017 to visit three orphanages housing more than three hundred children, teens, and their caregivers.
Our second real-world mission began after Story International, operating a school/orphanage in Huehuetenango, Guatemala, contacted our CEO on March 10th, 2017 asking for consultation regarding 14 female survivors of a fire recently transferred to their home. The fires took place at a girl’s shelter in Guatemala City which took the lives of 40 girls and displaced more than 600 others. Two dozen or so girls were locked in a room and they intentionally set fire to a mattress as a way of protesting the extreme abuse.
Our International Trauma Outreach operations are conducted in the following countries: Nicaragua, Guatemala, Mexico and Costa Rica.
